Jones New York

Jones New York is an esteemed American brand renowned for its reputation of excellence in design, quality and style. With an active and loyal consumer following, today the brand drives close to $1B in retail sales across department stores in the US as well as key international markets including Canada, Europe, the Middle East and Latin America.

On April 23, 2015, Authentic Brands Group (ABG), owner of a global portfolio of iconic fashion, sports and lifestyle, celebrity, media and entertainment brands, announced today the purchase of American fashion brand, Jones New York.

On April 8, 2014, all of the outstanding shares of the common stock of The Jones Group, Inc. were acquired pursuant to a merger transaction by investment funds managed by Sycamore Partners Management L.L.C. for $15 per share. The acquisition was valued at approximately $2.2 billion. Immediately following the merger, Nine West undertook certain reorganization and carveout transactions, the result of which is that the Nine West business is now comprised solely of our footwear and accessories business and our jeanswear business. Common stock is no longer listed for trading on the New York Stock Exchange, and we have been renamed “Nine West Holdings, Inc.”

Founded in 1970, the Jones Apparel Group changed its name to The Jones Group Inc., October 2010. The Jones Group designs middle to high-priced women’s career and casual sportswear, suits, and dresses. Brands include Jones New York (which will close it’s retail and wholesale operations in 2015), Evan-Picone, Rena Rowan, and several licensed by Polo Ralph Lauren. Jones has an exclusive license with Polo Ralph Lauren to manufacture and sell Lauren brand products in Canada, Mexico, and the US. Jones also owns the trademark to designer Todd Oldham’s name for clothing and fragrances.

Subsidiary Nine West Group, bought in 1999, designs shoes (Easy Spirit, Enzo Angiolini, Bandolino) and operates about 760 retail and outlet stores. Jones also offers men’s casual sportswear. Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway owns about 7% of the company. In 2002 Jones Apparel aquired the Vanderbilt brand. This along with Polo Jeans Co and LEI makes Jones the third largest jeanswear company in the US, behind VF Corp and Levi Strauss. 2004 revenue for Jones Apparel was $4.64 billion, of which an estimated $1 billion accounted for wholesale volume of its jeans lines.

Luxury retailer Barneys New York was acquired in late 2004. Jones currently owns and operates more than 1,000 retail and outlet stores.
