Sarah Siegel-Magness was born to be a success. Inspired by her parents Mo and Peggy Siegel who founded health food giant Celestial Seasonings Tea. Siegel-Magness always knew she would run her own company. Ambitious and driven at an early age, she started working at Career-Track, a business management company when she was only fourteen. Her first stint in the entrepreneurial world was while she was attending the University of Colorado’s Business School. While in college, Siegel-Magness opened an independent and wildly successful Celestial Seasonings Kiosk in the Crossroads Mall of Boulder, Colorado.
Upon graduation, Siegel-Magness made the bold decision to move half way across the country to New York City where she pursued a career in music. She started off by interning for EMI World Records- a job she loved. It was her job at EMI that gave her the inside glimpse of the rock star world that would later become the biggest supporters of her fun, stylish clothes. Despite her passion for music, her true love was fashion. At the tender age of 27, the young fashionista decided to start her own clothing company, So Low in 2001.
It was the height of the uber-low rise pants trend and Siegel-Magness found herself, like many women everywhere, having a style emergency - she couldn’t find panties that were low enough for her low-rise jeans! Realizing the potential business opportunity since there were no “low-rise” panties out on the market, Siegel-Magness produced her own intimate apparel collection. The line flew off shelves and celebrities went berserk for them. People took notice and GenArt nominated the young designer for the high profile “Fresh Face” award. A few seasons later, the collection expanded into luxury cashmere, yummy velour, the softest cotton modal, French terry cloth and jersey that So Low is known for.
So Low soon became a sassy lifestyle collection of contemporary sportswear which embodies the effervescent spirit and chic personal style of Sarah Siegel-Magness. Featuring the kind of deliciously cozy leggings, casually cool fold-over pants (some with “tattoos”), skirts, little day dresses, fitted tanks, comfy hoodies, swimsuits, and accessories that young Hollywood covets. The line is about must-have modern basics that are fun, feisty and fierce. So Low’s fan base includes the likes of Kirsten Dunst, Lucy Liu, and Gwen Stefani.
Nominated for “Young Entrepreneur of the Year” award at age 30, Siegel-Magness has managed to establish one of the fastest growing contemporary lines catering to young women. Sarah sells much more than clothes; she sells a lifestyle image that is fun and fashionable.
In addition to her business, Siegel-Magness has been an active member of YEO, the Young Entrepreneur’s Organization, a global non-profit educational organization for business owners under 40. Her humanitarian and charity efforts include Save Venice, New Yorkers for Children and the Millennium Promise, just to name a few. She is a front-row fixture at Fashion Week and high society galas alike. In addition, Siegel- Magness has been featured in every major national magazine and television show such as MTV’s “Run’s House” and “Workout” on Bravo. She is also currently developing her own show for a major cable network.
Siegel-Magness is based in Denver, Colorado with her husband, cable magnate Gary Magness and two children, and owns homes in Palm Springs and Upstate New York.
